Details: On 12-13 July, Ptakhy (Birds) of the Unmanned Systems Forces struck 11 energy hubs and substations of various capacities in Crimea and other occupied territories: nine electricity substations, the strategic Crimea electricity transfer point of the Kuban-Crimea power bridge from Russia and a gas pumping station.

The facilities included the Kuban-Crimea transfer point in Hlazivka, Crimea, and substations in Kerch and in the settlements of Kovylne, Zymyne and Afiny.

Background:

  • The situation with electricity supply on temporarily occupied Crimea is deteriorating as a result of strikes by Ukraine's defence forces on energy facilities. Regions are regularly left without power, sometimes for several days, and most do not even have outage schedules.
  • On the night of 12-13 July, units of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked nine energy hubs and substations of various capacities in temporarily occupied territories, as well as the strategic electricity transfer point of the Kuban-Crimea power bridge from Russia to Crimea. It was hit a second time in the next two days.
  • A fuel crisis has been escalating in Russia amid continued Ukrainian strikes on oil refineries, with shortages of motor fuel similar to those previously reported in the temporarily occupied city of Sevastopol and Crimea now spreading to Russia's capital region.
  • The Russian occupying authorities declared a regional state of emergency in Crimea and Sevastopol.
