Ukraine's Defence Ministry has codified over 400 unmanned aerial systems since start of year

A total of 413 unmanned aerial systems (UAS) have been approved for use by Ukraine's defence forces since the beginning of 2026, exceeding the figures recorded in both 2025 and 2024.

Details: Almost all of the codified systems are domestically produced.
Quote: "So far, over 30% more unmanned aerial systems have been codified than during the same period in 2025, and over 73% more than during the same period in 2024."
Details: The Ministry of Defence has approved for service aerostat-, fixed-wing- and multirotor-type reconnaissance systems, loitering munitions, first-person view (FPV) drones and bomber UAS. It has also codified interceptor drones, relay drones, target UAVs, fibre-optic systems, as well as front-strike and deep-strike drones.
"Among the codified systems, multirotor strike drones and fibre-optic UAS account for the largest share. The number of front-strike drones has also increased significantly," the ministry said.

It also published part of the list of unmanned systems codified since the beginning of 2026, including:

- Hor Elks
- Beshket
- Shturm
- Bababoom
- Zorro
- Blinc
- Optoslon
- Chumak
- Sokil
- Hydra
- Kruk
- Dzyha
- Kharok
- Buran
- Bilyi Vovk
- Sichen.
Background:
- Earlier, the Ministry of Defence approved the 17-inch Queen Hornet multi-purpose drone for use by Ukraine's defence forces.
- Ukrainian company TAF Industries has also had its Kolibri 13-O FPV drone, equipped with a 20-kilometre fibre-optic control link, codified by the Ministry of Defence.
