Zelenskyy awards PM Svyrydenko and Minister Shmyhal with Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has honoured Yuliia Svyrydenko and Denys Shmyhal with the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, 5th class.

Details: On the occasion of Ukrainian Statehood Day, the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, 5th class, was awarded to Yuliia Svyrydenko, identified in the decree as Prime Minister of Ukraine in 2025-2026, and to First Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal.

Quote: "For significant contributions to the strengthening of Ukrainian statehood, courage and selflessness displayed in the defence of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, a substantial personal contribution to the development of various spheres of public life, and conscientious fulfilment of professional duty."

More details: In addition, various state awards and honorary titles were received by historian Natalia Yakovenko, TV presenter Tymur Miroshnychenko, singer Andrii Khlyvniuk, poet Ostap Slyvynskyi, co-founder of the Sens bookshop Oleksii Yerinchak, co-founder of the publishing company Nash Format Vladyslav Kyrychenko (posthumously), as well as dozens of military personnel, medics, volunteers, scientists, artists and sportspeople.

Background:

  • Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, following a meeting with President Zelenskyy, effectively confirmed she was leaving the post of head of government.
  • There is currently no finalised candidate for the post of prime minister, though four candidates are being considered: Serhii Koretskyi, head of the Naftogaz Group and director of Ukrnafta; Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal; Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov; and Ihor Terekhov, Mayor of Kharkiv.
  • According to UP, President Zelenskyy, during a meeting with Naftogaz head Serhii Koretskyi, offered him the post of head of the Cabinet. Koretskyi responded that he was ready to try.
  • On 14 July, the Verkhovna Rada approved the resignation of Yuliia Svyrydenko as Prime Minister, a decision which entails the resignation of the entire government.
