Details: The prime minister said she and Zelenskyy had discussed the challenges facing Ukraine, the changes needed to strengthen the government's work and its relations with international partners, and next steps.
Quote: "I am grateful to the president for his trust and for his high assessment of our team's work. I am proud to have had the honour of leading the government during one of the most difficult periods in Ukraine's modern history.
I am grateful to the entire government team for serving the country through extraordinary challenges."
Details: Svyrydenko added that she remains ready to continue serving her country and carrying out tasks aimed at strengthening Ukraine's position, defending national interests and bringing a just peace closer.
For reference: Under the law on the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the prime minister has the right to announce their resignation to the Ukrainian Parliament. The head of government is relieved of their post from the day on which parliament adopts a decision on their resignation.
The prime minister's resignation entails the resignation of the entire Cabinet. However, the outgoing government continues to exercise its powers until the new government starts work.
Background:
- Earlier today, Zelenskyy announced the need for a reshuffle of the Cabinet of Ministers and said there will also be changes in the leadership of the law enforcement agencies.
- A source told Ukrainska Pravda there is as yet no final candidate for the post of prime minister, but four candidates are being considered.
