Russian strike on Kharkiv Oblast gas facility is 250th attack on Ukraine's Naftogaz this year

Since early morning on 17 July, Russia has been carrying out a massive drone attack on a gas production facility in Kharkiv Oblast that belongs to the Naftogaz Group, Ukraine's national oil and gas company.

Details: This is the 250th attack on Naftogaz facilities since the start of 2026. There have been an average of 1.26 attacks on the company per day.
The attack has halted operations at the facility. Staff are in shelters, and no one has been injured.
It is not yet possible to determine the extent and scale of the damage, as there is still a risk of repeat strikes.
Background: The supervisory board of Naftogaz of Ukraine has appointed the group's commercial director, Serhii Fedorenko, as acting CEO.
