Former Ukrainian commander-in-chief Zaluzhnyi on Drapatyi's appointment: he has nothing to lose

Valerii Zaluzhnyi, former commander-in-chief of Ukraine's Armed Forces and current Ambassador to the UK, has commented on the appointment of Mykhailo Drapatyi as Commander-in-Chief.

The new сommander-in-сhief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will face immense difficulty. Far greater than he imagines. But Mykhailo will certainly never have reason to feel ashamed.

A person of honour has no idols, so he has nothing to lose. The only thing he has is duty."

• After six days of protests, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced his decision to dismiss Oleksandr Syrskyi as commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and appoint Mykhailo Drapatyi to replace him.
