Chernihiv Oblast residents advised to prepare for worst-case winter scenario

Chernihiv Oblast is preparing critical infrastructure facilities for the 2026-2027 heating season. Meanwhile, the upcoming heating season is likely to be more difficult than the previous one.

Details: Chaus said that some measures were being implemented on schedule, while some work was progressing more slowly due to constant Russian attacks.

He added that Russian forces were also attacking facilities where protective work was already under way.

Chaus believes that the upcoming heating season could be even more difficult and that the region must be prepared for the worst-case scenario. He stressed that the oblast needed to strengthen the protection of critical infrastructure. Particular attention, he said, was being paid to creating a reserve of generators for critical infrastructure facilities.

Quote: "I believe that next winter will definitely not be easier than the one we just went through. It definitely won't be easier. It will be harder, more difficult. God willing, I am wrong. This is probably a forecast not so much from the head of an oblast military administration as from someone who sees what is happening, what the enemy is doing, and not only in our oblast. Of course, we hope that such forecasts will not come true. But I believe that, as in all areas, we must prepare for the worst-case scenario."
