Zelenskyy: EU incorporated Ukrainian proposals in new Russia sanctions package

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has welcomed the EU's approval of the 21st package of sanctions against Russia.

Details: Zelenskyy noted that this package "includes strong measures to curb Russia's revenues, including Ukrainian proposals that have been taken into account".

"It is crucial to preserve our unity and keep up this pressure," he added.

Zelenskyy also expressed hope that work on the next sanctions package will proceed actively and that "it will deliver additional restrictions that will advance peace and further limit Russia's ability to sustain its war".

The 21st sanctions package was finally agreed at EU ambassador level on the morning of 23 July, after its adoption had been blocked by individual countries for various reasons, the latest of which was Greece.

The package is to be approved on the afternoon of 23 July through a written procedure.
