Ukraine's power grid operator reports impact of Russia's latest massive attack on energy system

Emergency power outages have been introduced in Sumy and the surrounding hromadas following Russia's latest large-scale missile and drone attack. Details: The most difficult situation remains in Sumy Oblast as of the morning of 30 July. The emergency restrictions will be lifted once repair crews complete work on the damaged equipment.

Compared with the previous day, new outages have also been recorded in Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Zhytomyr and Cherkasy oblasts.

Ukrenergo urged consumers to use high-power electrical appliances between 10:00 and 16:00, when industrial solar power plants operate at their highest efficiency.

The company noted that the situation in the power system may change and advised consumers to check the official resources of their regional electricity distribution companies for the latest information on outages.

Background: Russia carried out a large-scale combined attack on Ukraine on the night of 29-30 July, using attack drones as well as air-, land- and sea-launched missiles of various types. Ukrainian air defence downed 320 out of the 358 aerial assets launched by the Russians.
