Ukraine hits oil refinery in Russia's Volgograd

On the night of 30-31 July, units from Ukraine's Defence Intelligence and the defence forces struck an oil refinery in Volgograd, Russia, one of the largest in the region.

Quote from Defence Intelligence: "On the night of 30-31 July 2026, operatives from the Active Operations Department of Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, as part of a joint long-range strike operation with the defence forces, struck another oil refinery deep within Russia – Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka LLC.

Key elements of the refinery's production facilities were hit in the attack. A large fire is raging at the facility, which fuels Russia's criminal war against Ukraine."

Details: Ukraine's Defence Intelligence notes that the refinery is one of the largest in Russia's Southern Federal District, with an annual processing capacity of around 14.8 million tonnes of crude oil. Its main products are high-octane petrol, diesel fuel and aviation kerosene.

Background: On the night of 30-31 July, Ukrainian drones also struck a Wildberries distribution centre in Volgograd. Russian Telegram channels also reported an attack on the refinery.
