Ukrainian border guards in Chernihiv Oblast shoot down Russian drone at record altitude of 6,858 m – video

Ukrainian border guards have shot down a Russian ZALA Z-20 reconnaissance drone over the northern front at an altitude of 6,858 m, a record for the area.

The enemy deliberately launches ZALA Z-20 reconnaissance drones at high altitudes, hoping they will remain out of reach. However, this did not pose an obstacle for operators of Sting [interceptor drones] from the 105th Border Guard Detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

A drone operated by our unit has successfully intercepted the target at an altitude of 6,858 m."

Details: The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine clarified that the interception marks the highest confirmed altitude at which any unit operating in Chernihiv Oblast has downed a Russian UAV.

The border guards did not specify the timeframe of the successful downing of the Russian drone, but sources told Ukrainska Pravda that it had taken place in mid-July.

Background: On 29 July, Ukraine's National Guard reported that drone operators from the Lasar's Group strike UAV unit had destroyed a Russian ZALA Z-20 reconnaissance drone at an altitude of 6,400 m, setting a record for the highest successful aerial interception.
