25-year-old Ukrainian paramedic Eva Reuter killed in Russian double-tap strike on Kyiv

Eva "Planochka" Reuter, a 25-year-old artist and paramedic, has been killed in Kyiv in a Russian double-tap strike on the night of 31 July-1 August. She was helping those injured during the attack.

Details: Zinkevych said that Eva Reuter was an artist and art historian who worked in the games industry (game development and production). She held a bachelor's degree from the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture.

"She joined us in November 2022. Having every right to remain in the rear, she chose to save the lives of others. Eva was tireless: she evacuated the wounded, took care of Medical Forces supplies and took part in the 'Veterans are different. Victory is one' campaign, reminding people of respect and equality.

Eva was an extraordinarily driven, decisive and courageous young woman. Recently she had been on duty with rescue workers in Kyiv, ran towards fire to help others, and met her death as a hero," Zinkevych wrote.

Social media user Oksana Hel described the young woman as "one who always put others first".

"There are acts for which no words are sufficient. There are people who become a light in the darkest of times. And there is a choice – conscious, terrifying, yet great: to give one's own life so that someone else may have a chance. She made exactly that choice," the woman wrote.

A 20-year-old volunteer Vitalina Yarovenko was in the vehicle with Eva. She was also killed.

"Two stories that should have continued – but didn't get the chance…. They say heroes are those who do not think of themselves in a moment of danger. That is true. But they are also those with a great heart every single day, not just in their final moment…," Hel wrote.

She added that the paramedic had a great love of animals. "She had eleven cats at home – rescued, kept warm, welcomed into her small universe of care. She knew how to protect life. Even the smallest," the woman wrote.

Background: The strike on Kyiv on the night of 31 July-1 August claimed the lives of nine people. Among them was 22-year-old patrol officer Yehor Terekhiv, who was helping civilians at the scene of the attack.
