Zelenskyy and Dutch PM discuss Ukraine's preparations for winter

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has held a phone call with Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten.

Details: Zelenskyy briefed Jetten on recent Russian strikes on Ukrainian communities and cities. In this context, they discussed how the Netherlands could help support Ukraine's defence now and in preparations for winter.

Quote: "Almost every day, the Russians strike our people, sparing no ballistic missiles in their efforts to destroy lives. Air defence missiles are our main priority."

Details: The leaders also discussed the diplomatic situation and last week's meetings in Washington. Zelenskyy and Jetten also spoke about Ukraine's EU integration, including work on opening four more negotiating clusters and enlargement more broadly.

Background:

• The Netherlands is a member of the Anti-Ballistic Coalition, one of whose tasks is to integrate Europe's defence-industrial and technological base for producing anti-ballistic systems and their missiles with Ukraine's own base, in order to develop a corresponding new European product.
• On 13 July in Paris, the Anti-Ballistic Coalition began work on a European missile defence system.
