Two killed and three injured in Russian attacks on Sumy Oblast

Two civilians were killed and three others were injured in Russian attacks on Sumy Oblast on 5 August.

Quote: "Two people have been killed in Sumy Oblast due to Russian aggression. Some civilians are reported to have been injured."

Details: A Russian drone struck a civilian car in the Putyvl hromada. [A hromada is an administrative unit designating a village, several villages, or a town, and their adjacent territories – ed.] A 40-year-old woman who was nearby sustained fatal injuries.

Hryhorov said two local residents were also injured in Russian strikes on the hromada earlier that morning.

In addition, a 59-year-old man died in hospital after sustaining severe injuries when a Russian drone struck his home in the Krasnopillia hromada on 1 August. Doctors fought to save his life for five days, but were unable to do so.

A woman riding a bicycle was also injured in the Krasnopillia hromada. Early reports indicate that she was injured in the explosion of an unidentified device. The administration believes Russian forces may have remotely mined the area.

All those injured are receiving the necessary medical treatment.

Background: On the night of 3-4 August, Russian forces attacked civilian infrastructure in Sumy with guided aerial bombs, killing one person and injuring others.
