"Each new attack once again confirms one obvious fact: Russia must pay for its aggression and be held accountable for its crimes. Standing shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine, we will not give in to fatigue or intimidation," the French president said.

He also added that the European Union and its partners will continue to increase pressure on Russia, including by imposing new sanctions, while stepping up military support for Ukraine.

  • Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže, who was in Kyiv that night, said she had spent the night in a shelter and expressed her condolences to Ukrainians who lost their loved ones during the attack.
