Russian attacks cause power outages in five oblasts

New power outages have been reported in Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Kharkiv and Sumy oblasts this morning following Russian artillery attacks and drone strikes.

Quote: "Emergency repair work is already underway wherever security conditions currently allow. Power engineers are doing everything possible to restore supply to all consumers as quickly as possible."

Details: No power outages are planned for the general population. Meanwhile, power engineers point out that there is an urgent need for economical energy use between 10:00 and 23:00 due to the abnormal heat.

Energy-intensive tasks – doing laundry, heating a boiler, using a dishwasher and so on – are recommended to be shifted to night-time hours in order to avoid overloading the power grid.

Electricity consumption has also risen due to the heat – as of 09:30, it was 1.4% higher than at the same time on Wednesday.

Background: Ukrainian power engineers are preparing for peak loads in August: power-limitation schedules for industry and businesses may be introduced due to the abnormal heat.
