Kyiv has package of proposals for its Azerbaijani partners – Ukraine's foreign minister

Ukraine aims to restore bilateral trade with Azerbaijan to its pre-war level, having already increased trade turnover to around US$600 million.

Details: Ukraine's acting Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha welcomed his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov in person at Kyiv Central Railway Station as he arrived for his first official visit to Ukraine.

"The sides held detailed talks on the bilateral and international agenda, Ukraine's preparations for the winter period, and the strengthening of energy security in the region," the ministry said.

"Over the previous year and this year, we have seen new momentum in the strategic partnership between Ukraine and Azerbaijan, with closer interactions at all levels. We see your visit as another element of this new and positive momentum," Sybiha noted.

He said Ukraine values investments by Azerbaijani companies and hopes to see their presence expand through new joint projects.

The minister also stated that the Ukrainian side has prepared a package of proposals for its Azerbaijani partners and is interested in diversifying energy supplies to Ukraine.

He stressed that Ukraine aims to restore bilateral trade to its pre-war level, adding that trade between Ukraine and Azerbaijan has reached around US$600 million.

The two countries' diplomats will also work towards holding the next meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Azerbaijani Commission on Economic Cooperation in Ukraine.

Background: It was reported earlier that Azerbaijan is prepared to increase gas production by an additional 10 billion cubic metres and expand its gas exports to the EU.
