"We also coordinated our activities for August. We expect to reach important bilateral agreements within the framework of the strategic partnership between our countries," the Ukrainian president noted.

He also spoke with the Norwegian prime minister about Ukraine's protection from Russian strikes.

"I am grateful to Norway for its readiness to assist both with air defence supplies and by working with partners that have the necessary anti-ballistic capabilities. We are trying to accelerate all processes as much as possible – capabilities to protect our people are needed every day," Zelenskyy added.

Background:

  • US President Donald Trump reportedly rejected Zelenskyy's request for hundreds of additional Patriot interceptor missiles ahead of winter at their meeting in the Oval Office last week.
  • It is also worth noting that during the public part of the meeting between Trump and Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the NATO summit on 8 July, the US president stated that the United States would grant Ukraine the right to manufacture Patriot systems.
  • However, Trump subsequently stated that he had not yet decided whether to allow Ukraine to produce Patriot interceptor missiles, saying the United States "must be very careful" on the matter.
