Zelenskyy ends postings of three ambassadors in Balkan countries

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has relieved the Ukrainian ambassadors to Croatia, Albania and Montenegro of their duties.

Details: Under Decree No 709/2026, Zelenskyy relieved Vasyl Kyrylych of his post as Ukraine's ambassador to the Republic of Croatia.

Under another decree, No 710/2026, Zelenskyy terminated the powers of Volodymyr Shkurov as Ukraine's ambassador to Albania. Shkurov has represented Ukraine there since April 2020.
Decree No 711/2026 also ended the posting of Oleh Herasymenko as Ukraine's ambassador to Montenegro.
Background:
- On 3 August, Zelenskyy relieved Olha Stefanishyna of her post as Ukraine's ambassador to the United States.
- A few days later, the High Anti-Corruption Court imposed a preventive measure on Stefanishyna in the form of UAH 6 million (US$134,000) bail. She is suspected of illicit enrichment and false asset declarations.
- Stefanishyna herself said she does not have the funds to pay the bail set by the High Anti-Corruption Court.
