Serbian president's office announces Zelenskyy's first visit to Serbia

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić's office has announced that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will pay an official visit to Serbia on Saturday 8 August – his first trip to the country since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion and his own presidency.

Details: On 6 August, the Serbian president's office announced that Vučić would host Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Saturday 8 August for an official visit. No further details have been released.

The visit, which had been under discussion for some time, will be Zelenskyy's first diplomatic trip to Serbia since the beginning of the full-scale war, as well as his first since taking office as president.

In July, Vučić travelled to Kyiv alongside other regional leaders to attend the Ukraine-Southeast Europe Summit.

After the summit, Vučić said he was "not entirely" satisfied with the level of assistance Serbia had provided to Ukraine. However, he once again declined to sign the summit's joint declaration, which called for continued political, military, financial and security support for Ukraine, as well as increased pressure on Russia.

In recent months, Serbia has also been visited by Ukraine's then deputy prime minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration, Taras Kachka, and Ruslan Stefanchuk, Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian parliament).
