Serbian president pledges support for Ukraine on path to EU

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has said he supports Ukraine on its path to the EU and that he hopes Kyiv will succeed in opening and closing all negotiating clusters.

Details: Vučić said he has spoken with Zelenskyy about Serbia's and Ukraine's progress towards the EU.

"Ukraine will always have our support on its path to the EU. We make no comments regarding the halting of anyone's path because we were unable to open certain clusters," he said.

"We hope that Ukraine will open all negotiation clusters as quickly as possible and close them, as this is the wish of the Ukrainian people and Ukrainian leadership. And speaking for ourselves, we will have no problems with this in the future," Vučić stated.

Serbia, by contrast, will do everything it can to help Ukraine on its European path, he added.

Vsevolod Chentsov, Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, expects the remaining negotiating clusters for Ukraine to open in autumn.

In his view, completing negotiations with the EU by the end of 2027 is an ambitious but achievable goal.
