Ukraine’s Air Force clarifies: Russia launched 11 missiles at Odesa Oblast, one intercepted and three failed to reach targets
During the large-scale attack on Odesa Oblast on the night of 8-9 August, Russian forces used 11 missiles of various types, most of which approached their targets on ballistic trajectories. One missile was intercepted, while another three failed to reach their targets.

Details: In addition to the missiles, Russian forces used up to 100 drones of various types, including jet-powered drones and Banderol loitering munitions.
As of 08:00, Ukrainian air defence had intercepted 72% of the drones used against Odesa Oblast, as well as five of the six Banderol munitions.
The Air Force also reported that one of the 11 Russian missiles had been intercepted, while another three failed to reach their targets as a result of countermeasures. The locations where they came down are being established.
In a comment to Ukrainska Pravda, Ihnat explained that repelling large-scale combined attacks is extremely difficult.
Quote from Ihnat: "The enemy also uses various tactical techniques and takes weather conditions into account.
It is extremely difficult to repel large-scale attacks when different types of missiles, particularly ballistic missiles, are used simultaneously with UAVs, including jet-powered drones and Banderol-type loitering munitions."
Details: Missile and attack-drone strikes were recorded at nine locations in Odesa and Odesa Oblast.
The oblast came under another Russian missile attack in the afternoon.
As of 13:00, the Russian attack was continuing. According to Ihnat, Russian forces launched another strike from the Black Sea using air-launched missiles.
Background: In its morning report, the Air Force said Russia had attacked Odesa Oblast with Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles, Oniks anti-ship missiles and Kh-31P anti-radiation missiles but did not specify at the time how many missiles had been launched.
