Russia stopped making Kinzhal missiles in April to boost production of other missiles – Defence Intelligence

Russia stopped producing Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles in April in order to increase production of other, more accurate types of missiles.

Details: Speaking about Russia's increased production of ballistic missiles, Skibitskyi said that the Russians now have a "simplified system of technical quality control during missile production" and face "real consequences for failing to meet production targets".

Quote: "However, there is another explanation: the Russians have also managed to increase production of ballistic missiles because they have currently stopped producing Kinzhals. As a result, missile fuel is no longer being used for Kinzhals but for other ballistic missiles.

In addition, they have suspended the production and use of the Kh-32 (an upgraded version of the Kh-22), so the funds and components previously allocated to them have been redirected to other types of missiles that are considered more effective."

Details: In response to a follow-up question, Skibitskyi said Russia had suspended production of Kinzhals in April. Another reason was the missiles' lack of accuracy.

"For a missile to be effective, its deviation from the target must not exceed 5–7 metres, whereas these deviate by 30 metres or more," he said.

Kinzhal missiles were launched at Ukraine from MiG-31 aircraft, the take-off of which would usually prompt air-raid warnings across the country.

There have been no reports in the Ukrainian Air Force's updates of the Russians launching Kinzhals for several months now.
