Ukrainian K-2 brigade's commander: Russian losses will rise by 50% once the foliage falls

Kyrylo Veres, Commander of the Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Forces' K-2 Brigade and a Hero of Ukraine, has predicted that Russian troop losses at the front will rise once the leaves fall and winter sets in.

Quote: "In winter... it will be one and a half times higher straight away [in terms of the Russians killed – ed.]. As soon as the foliage falls, we'll have a bit more room for manoeuvre, and thermal imagers will work better."

Details: Veres said Russian losses during this period could rise to 35,000-40,000 a month.

Quote: "I think there'll be an improvement. That doesn't mean the improvement will be noticeable in a single day. We have a huge enemy, but we need to work towards this. If we'd been killing 40,000-50,000 [Russian troops – ed.] a month back in 2022, maybe the idiots [Russian forces – ed.] would already be running a bit low."

More details: Veres said the Unmanned Systems Forces currently account for 10-15% of total Russian military fatalities.

Quote: "We're holding that level, give or take 10-15%. This is a historic moment."

Background: In January, former Ukrainian defence minister Mykhailo Fedorov said that one of Ukraine's strategic goals is to inflict up to 50,000 casualties on Russian forces each month to make the war unsustainable for Russia.
