Remains of Ukrainian leader Yevhen Konovalets brought to Kyiv – photos

The remains of Yevhen Konovalets, a colonel of the Army of the Ukrainian People's Republic and the first leader of the Organisation of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN), have been brought to Ukraine.

Background:

• On 11 August it was reported that the remains of Yevhen Konovalets, a colonel of the Army of the Ukrainian People's Republic and OUN's first leader, were exhumed in the Netherlands.
• After being returned to Ukraine, Konovalets' remains will be examined by a number of researchers. CT scans, MRI scans and other procedures will be carried out.
• On 25 May, Andrii Melnyk, another OUN's leader, and his wife Sofiia Fedak-Melnyk were reinterred at the National Military Memorial Cemetery.
