Ukraine will hand over trophy Russian T-72 tanks to museums in five European countries – defence ministry

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the creation of a mechanism for handing over destroyed trophy Russian equipment to museums in other countries. Under the mechanism, captured T-72 tanks are to be handed over to museums in five countries.

Details: The ministry said this concerns trophy military equipment captured or obtained while repelling Russian aggression. It will be handed over free of charge to foreign museums for use as museum exhibits or for organising exhibitions.

Quote: "In particular, museums in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Denmark and the Netherlands will receive captured T-72 tanks for exhibition use."

More details: The ministry added that the equipment lost its combat capability, contains no explosive elements and can be safely displayed to visitors. The decision was adopted on the initiative of the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.

Quote: "Such exhibitions abroad will help communicate objective information about Ukraine's ongoing struggle for independence and present the international community with tangible evidence of the war."

The Defence Ministry also expects such exhibitions to help develop cultural diplomacy and cooperation with foreign museum institutions.

Background: Earlier, the Ministry of Defence launched the state platform TrophyLab, through which manufacturers, engineers, scientists, laboratories and international partners can gain access to trophy Russian equipment for weapons research.
