Russian agent who registered 27 Starlink terminals for Russian forces arrested – photo, video

A man suspected of treason has been arrested in Kharkiv Oblast after verifying Starlink terminals on instructions from the Russians.

Quote from Kharkiv Oblast Prosecutor's Office: "In the frontline city of Izium in Kharkiv Oblast, a 33-year-old man registered 27 satellite communications terminals. One of them later ended up in the possession of Russian forces in the temporarily occupied part of Zaporizhzhia Oblast. Under the procedural supervision of Kharkiv Oblast Prosecutor's Office, he has already been served with a notice of suspicion of treason committed under martial law."

Details: The suspect is an unemployed internally displaced person from the temporarily occupied city of Khrustalnyi in Luhansk Oblast. After moving to Izium, he looked for work on social media, where, according to investigators, he was contacted by a representative of Russia.

They continued communicating via Telegram. The Russian handler offered to pay the man to register Starlink terminals. He agreed.

To activate one of them, the suspect enlisted a front person and then sent the Russian representative photographic evidence that the task had been completed. He received UAH 1,500 (about US$30) on his bank card in return.

Investigators later established that one of the terminals registered by the man was used by Russian forces in the temporarily occupied part of Zaporizhzhia Oblast. It was used to provide communications and control attack drones.

The man registered a total of 27 terminals. Law enforcement officers are currently investigating a possible Russian connection and establishing all the circumstances surrounding their use.

Ukrainska Pravda has learned that the man was detained on 6 August.

The court remanded the suspect in custody without the right to bail.
