Russia attacked by over 1,600 drones in 24 hours, says Russian Defence Ministry

Russia's Ministry of Defence has claimed it shot down more than 1,600 drones over the past 24 hours, as well as 10 guided aerial bombs and two HIMARS rockets.

Quote from the Russian Defence Ministry: "Air defence systems shot down 10 guided aerial bombs, two rockets from the US-made HIMARS multiple-launch rocket system, and 1,671 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles."
Details: Russia's Defence Ministry claimed that Russian forces shot down this number of drones within 24 hours.
RIA Novosti said this was the largest-scale attack on Russia to date: "Air defence has shot down 1,671 drones over Russia in the past 24 hours – an all-time record."
Background:
- On the night of 17-18 August, Russian authorities reported that more than 600 drones were heading towards Moscow. It was claimed that 180 of them were "destroyed" in the Moscow region. Russian media said the drone attack on Moscow was "the largest in two years".
- As usual, the Russian authorities and media did not report on the consequences of the attack. However, the Wildberries press service has confirmed reports that a logistics complex in Moscow Oblast was damaged.
