Details: Astra, citing local residents, reported a large-scale drone attack on Dzerzhinsk overnight. Eyewitnesses posted videos showing explosions and thick white smoke over the city.
Exilenova+ also reported explosions in Dzerzhinsk. According to the channel, local residents said a drone had been shot down directly next to a high-rise residential building.
Astra later reported that the source of the large plume of smoke was likely located on the grounds of the Y.M. Sverdlov Plant.
The plant is located in the western part of Dzerzhinsk, approximately five kilometres from the high-rise building near which the damaged drone was reportedly brought down.
For reference: The Sverdlov plant is part of Russia's military-industrial complex and is one of the country's largest producers of explosives. The facility is under sanctions imposed by Ukraine, the EU, the US, the UK, Japan and Switzerland.
Background: Explosions were heard in Dzerzhinsk on the morning of 30 April, followed by smoke rising near the explosives plant. Explosions were also heard in Perm, where a linear production and dispatch station had been targeted by Ukraine's Security Service on 29 April.
