Death toll from Russian attack on Zhytomyr rises to three, 53 injured – photos
The death toll from a Russian attack on the city of Zhytomyr on 19 August has risen to three, and 53 people are known to have been injured. Rescue workers worked at the site of the strike throughout the night.

Details: A fire caused by the attack has been extinguished.
Emergency recovery work is now underway. Rescue workers are dismantling damaged structures and inspecting the site of the strike. Rescue workers who are climbers from Cherkasy and Rivne oblasts have been brought in to assist with the work.
The State Emergency Service said the work continued throughout the night, although repeated air-raid warnings made it more difficult.
Aid headquarters have also been set up at the site.
Background:
- Russian forces attacked Zhytomyr with drones on 19 August, hitting the building of the Main Directorate of the National Police.
- Two police officers were reported to have been killed. Ukraine's Interior Minister Ivan Vyhivskyi has said that Captain Artem Zubchuk and Lieutenant Colonel Yuliia Yevdokymova were the ones killed in the Russian double-tap strike.
