Russian strike on Zhytomyr police headquarters kills two officers, number injured rise to 40 – photo

Ukraine's Interior Minister Ivan Vyhivskyi has said two police officers, Captain Artem Zubchuk and Lieutenant Colonel Yuliia Yevdokymova, were killed in a Russian double-tap strike on the police headquarters in Zhytomyr.

Artem Zubchuk. A police captain and senior operational officer with the Strategic Investigations Department in Zhytomyr Oblast. He was 32.

Yuliia Yevdokymova, aged 39. A police lieutenant colonel and assistant to the head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Zhytomyr Oblast."

Details: Vyhivskyi noted that the number of people injured had risen to 40.

Quote: "Today, there were also briefings by Maksym Tsutskiridze, acting head of the National Police of Ukraine. Response procedures for staff when air-raid warnings are issued have been developed, but Russian terror requires security measures to be strengthened regularly."

Background: Russian forces attacked Zhytomyr with drones on 19 August, hitting the building of the Main Directorate of the National Police. Two police officers were reported to have been killed.
