Russia still has 50 Kinzhal missiles in its arsenal after suspending production – Ukraine's Defence Intelligence
Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) has reported that as of July, Russia had around 50 Kinzhal air-launched ballistic missiles in its arsenal. Their mass production has been suspended since April 2026.

Quote from DIU: "In addition, as of July 2026, Russia had around 50 Kinzhal air-launched ballistic missiles and around 50 North Korean KN-23-series ballistic missiles (+ KN-24 and KN-30)."
Details: The article states that Russia is currently focusing on producing more accurate types of ballistic and cruise missiles. Rocket fuel, funding and components previously used for Kinzhal missiles have been redirected towards their production.
DIU confirmed that this is indeed helping Russia increase the number of ballistic missiles for the Iskander-M system.
Quote from DIU: "Redirecting production resources towards missile systems enables Russia to maintain the required production rates and ensure the regular use of missiles against Ukraine."
Details: Meanwhile, DIU noted that the suspension of mass production of Kinzhals does not mean the missile has lost its combat capability. "The Kinzhal missile is currently undergoing further development due, among other things, to problems with accuracy in hitting targets," it said.
