The logistics hub in Chapayevsk covers 135,000 sq m and is one of the largest warehouse facilities in the Volga region. Its construction cost around 5 billion roubles (about US$60.5 million).

Ozon is Russia's second-largest online marketplace, behind Wildberries.

Background:

  • In July, Ukraine's defence forces began systematically targeting Russian logistics infrastructure used by Russian units to purchase dual-use goods, ammunition, communications equipment and components for drones on a large scale.
  • Acknowledging the threat to its infrastructure, Ozon ordered the urgent installation of fire-protection systems on the roofs of dozens of its warehouses across Russia.
