Ukrainian company Oko Camera is developing a new Oko HD thermal imaging camera, featuring a 1280×1024 resolution sensor.

Details: The distinguishing feature of the Oko HD lies in its sensor, which will contain four times more pixels than the company's previous product lines. This will allow the range at which targets can be identified to be increased.

One of the camera's main purposes is observing objects at long distances: this sensor should allow targets to be detected and identified from afar. The company has not yet disclosed the exact distance.

"LWIR cameras – that is, long-wave infrared cameras – with HD resolution are not common on the global market. In Ukraine, they essentially don't exist at all right now. This camera will have a significantly greater detection range, which directly affects the ability of the unmanned or robotic system it's integrated into to see targets at long distances," Oko Camera's partnerships manager told Ukrainska Pravda.

The Oko HD is currently at the prototyping stage. The company plans to produce the first working samples by the end of 2026 and hand them over to clients who have already made inquiries about the cameras. The company expects it to become one of the most affordable thermal imaging HD cameras on the global market.

Once testing confirms the specified characteristics, the company plans to launch the Oko HD into production in 2027.
