Danish PM calls on Europeans to provide Ukraine with Patriot missiles
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has called on Kyiv's Western partners to provide Ukraine with missiles for Patriot air defence systems.

Details: Frederiksen stressed that Western countries are fully capable of supplying Ukraine with Patriot missiles – all that is needed is political will.
"We have Patriot systems in many countries. Denmark cannot do this, but Ukraine can certainly be given greater support in terms of air defence," the Danish prime minister said, without naming specific countries.
She stressed that Ukraine particularly needs this support before winter.
"If we do not do this, Ukraine will face a winter during which the Russians will strike ruthlessly, including with ballistic missiles, and will kill countless people," Frederiksen said.
Although the Europeans are now taking on a greater share of commitments to support Ukraine, they still need American help, she noted, particularly because it is the US that holds the licence for Patriot missile production.
Background:
- President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine needs up to 360 Patriot air defence missiles for the winter and noted that Germany has agreed to supply several hundred PAC-2 missiles in 2027-2028.
- Zelenskyy also announced that Ukraine will receive new radars for its air defence systems following a conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron.
- Macron in turn told the Ukrainian president in a phone call that France will strengthen its support and send interceptor missiles.
