Russian leader Vladimir Putin has described Ukraine's proposals for a peaceful settlement as "exotic" and unacceptable to Russia.

Quote: "The Kyiv regime is attempting to prevent the situation from developing into a catastrophe. And it seems that is where the trends are heading.

However, the proposals we receive are sometimes, I would say, exotic in nature and unacceptable. We are always ready for dialogue on peace, but only on the basis of the realities on the ground."

Details: Putin declined to specify which "exotic proposals" he has supposedly received from Kyiv. He said that "this is a kind of probing of possible areas for agreements", and that these proposals "have been voiced in one form or another before, but in the current situation they are being presented in their own way".

"But it is too early to jump ahead and talk about what could form the basis of possible agreements," he said.

Putin also claimed that Kyiv had "opened Pandora's box" when it began striking civilian targets in Russia and that it is now receiving a response.

"You want to disrupt our logistics? We can raise this issue with the enemy. Well, appropriate action will not be long in coming. There you have it. And the actions of Russia's armed forces are, of course, far more significant and far more destructive," the Kremlin leader said.
