Russians attack Chernihiv in morning: house burns, woman and four-year-old girl killed

Russian forces attacked the city of Chernihiv on the morning of 26 August, setting a house on fire and killing a 49-year-old woman and a four-year-old girl.

Quote: "The enemy struck the city early this morning. The attack caused a house to catch fire and it was effectively destroyed by the blaze. Outbuildings were also damaged. A fire also broke out in a shop located nearby."

Details: Early reports indicate that three people were inside the house at the time of the attack.

The city council said that a 14-year-old girl had been taken to hospital. The bodies of a 49-year-old woman and a four-year-old girl were found during search operations.

Background:

On the afternoon of 25 August, Russian forces attacked Chernihiv with more than 10 drones, damaging critical infrastructure and warehouse facilities. Three people sustained minor injuries.
On the evening of 25 August, Russian forces attacked Chernihiv again, injuring two adults and a child.
