Ukraine's foreign minister urges Kyiv's partners to boost support ahead of winter after massive Russian attack

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has called on Kyiv's partners to provide additional support packages ahead of winter following a large-scale Russian attack on Ukraine on the night of 26-27 August.

Details: Sybiha said Russia has attacked ports, grain storage facilities, energy and industrial facilities and other infrastructure using ballistic and hypersonic missiles as well as attack drones.

Quote: "This is state terrorism. It does not show strength; it shows helplessness. Putin cannot and will not achieve anything on the battlefield. Instead, he is betting on terrorising our cities, ports, and critical infrastructure. Proving his terror futile will bring the end of this war closer."

Details: Sybiha said attacks on grain infrastructure, ports and maritime routes are particularly harmful not only to Ukraine but also to around 400 million people worldwide.

Quote: "We call for immediate action to overcome the consequences of Russian attacks on Ukraine's grain exports: additional routes, quotas, grain storage equipment, and joint efforts to ensure freedom of navigation along our maritime routes."

Details: Ahead of winter, Sybiha added, Kyiv is calling for additional support packages to strengthen Ukraine's energy resilience.

"We value every contribution: air defence, generation capacity, equipment, resources and energy imports," he said.

• On the night of 26-27 August, Russia attacked Ukraine with ballistic missiles, two anti-ship missiles and 258 strike drones. Ukrainian air defence downed 233 Russian aerial assets.
• Five drones also entered Moldova's national airspace during the Russian attack on Ukraine.
