Russians strike Zaporizhzhia Steelworks again: extent of damage reported

Russian forces have carried out fresh strikes on Zaporizhstal (Zaporizhzhia Steelworks), hitting the same location where plant workers were killed in a previous Russian attack on 11 August.

Quote: "The Russians struck Zaporizhstal yet again tonight. Five missiles hit the same place where people were killed during the previous attack. Since that attack, the plant has been forced to suspend operations.

The plant has not been operating since it was hit by North Korean missiles. It may resume operations, and the steelworkers are working on this, but the damage is very serious."

Background:

• It was reported previously that Zaporizhstal has suspended operations completely following a Russian ballistic missile strike. Seven employees were killed and another 21 people were injured.
• In December 2025, a Russian attack on energy infrastructure completely cut power to Zaporizhstal, which forced an emergency shutdown of production. In January, the plant again halted all production processes after losing its external power supply following a Russian attack.
