Russian attack on Bucha district: 27 people killed

The death toll from the Russian attack and subsequent detonation in Kyiv Oblast's Bucha district has risen to 27, while another 42 people were injured.

Details: According to Tkachenko, the death toll may not be final. Among those killed was Taras Didych, head of the Dmytrivka hromada, who was one of the first to arrive at the scene. Forty-two people sustained injuries of varying severity, including four children. Seven of those injured have been hospitalised.

A total of 381 people, including 59 children, were evacuated from the emergency zone.

Emergency rescue and firefighting operations, the dismantling of structures and searches for people are ongoing at the scene.

Early reports indicate that around 50 residential buildings have been damaged.

Background:

• On the evening of 28 August, powerful explosions were heard in the Bucha district of Kyiv Oblast. A fire broke out at a warehouse, and traffic for all vehicles was blocked on the M-06 Kyiv-Chop motorway between kilometres 15 and 32.
• Earlier, on 6 July 2026, a similar incident occurred in Vyshneve, Kyiv Oblast. Following a Russian strike, prolonged explosions occurred at ammunition warehouses, killing nine people and damaging more than 280 houses.
