FT: Musk willing to allow Starlink to be used in Russia, but needs Trump's decision

Billionaire Elon Musk has told former Ukrainian defence minister Mykhailo Fedorov that he is willing to allow Ukraine to use Starlink systems beyond its borders but is awaiting a political decision.

Details: The FT's sources state that Musk had previously told Fedorov he was willing to allow Ukraine to use drones equipped with Starlink systems beyond its borders to strike Russian targets. However, according to these sources, Musk told Ukraine that this is a political decision that must be taken by the White House.

Fedorov declined to comment on his conversations with Musk.

Fedorov also stated that Ukraine's intensification of its long-range strikes against Russia is the most realistic way to force Russian leader Vladimir Putin to stop the war, but this requires additional investment in the weapons used for such strikes.

Background: During closed-door negotiations at the White House on 28 July, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy asked for Ukraine to be granted permission to use the Starlink system on Russian territory to strike ballistic missile launchers.
