Ukraine's Defence Ministry increases number of codified weapons and military equipment by more than 500 in one year

Ukraine's Ministry of Defence has codified and authorised 1,526 new items of weapons and military equipment for supply to Ukraine's defence forces in the first eight months of 2026, which is 543 more than during the same period last year.

Quote: "During the same period in 2025, the Defence Ministry codified 983 items of weapons and military equipment, with Ukrainian-made products accounting for 86%."

Details: The share of Ukrainian-made products has also increased: this year, it stands at almost 91%, compared with 86% last year.

In particular, 565 Ukrainian unmanned aerial systems were authorised for supply.

Among the new unmanned aerial systems, the Defence Ministry highlighted long-range deep-strike and middle-strike drones, as well as high-speed interceptor drones.

The ministry also codified 256 types of ammunition, 139 communications systems, 86 ground robotic systems, 64 electronic warfare/electronic intelligence systems, 52 vehicles, 48 items of armoured vehicles and specialised armoured vehicles and 37 optical devices.

In addition, Ukrainian non-lethal equipment was authorised for supply to the defence forces. This included 26 items of rear-support equipment, 21 training simulators, 19 engineering and demining systems and items, 10 items for equipment maintenance and three items for radiological, chemical and biological protection.

Background: Earlier, Ukrainska Pravda reported that as of mid-June 2026, the Defence Ministry had codified 1,000 items of weapons and military equipment, 892 of which were Ukrainian-made. During the same period in 2025, the ministry had codified 659 items.
