According to an OSINT analysis of eyewitness videos, the fire broke out near the town of Sirius, close to the Psou River on the border with Abkhazia. According to the analysts, a Russian S-300 or S-400 surface-to-air missile system is located there.

In addition, an oil depot caught fire in Sochi. Local residents could see a tall column of flames from many kilometres away.

The Sirius area has been targeted by UAV attacks several times before. Local media outlets previously reported that Russian forces had installed a huge radar directly on the shore in the same area, near the Krylia Baltiki beach.
