Strike on Ukraine's Security Service building in Kyiv: Russian drone hits office of service's acting chief
A Russian drone struck the office of Oleksandr Poklad, acting head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU), in the SSU building in Kyiv. The general was not in his office at the time of the strike.

Details: According to Ukrainska Pravda sources, the strike hit Poklad's office on Volodymyrska Street in central Kyiv. The acting SSU chief was not there at the time of the attack.
A fire broke out in the building following the strike. Emergency services are currently working at the scene and dealing with the aftermath.
Update: Zelenskyy later confirmed that a Russian drone struck the central SSU building on Volodymyrska Street, opposite St Sophia's Cathedral. He noted that the Russians specifically targeted the SSU chief's office.
Quote from Zelenskyy: "The drone was aimed directly at the office of the head of the Security Service in that building. I instructed Poklad to deliver an appropriate, tangible response and, where possible, one that mirrors this strike, to the Russians once everything is ready. Our military will support this response."
Background:
- On the afternoon of 4 September, a Russian drone struck the SSU building in central Kyiv, near Zoloti Vorota metro station.
- Eyewitnesses told Ukrainska Pravda that an explosion occurred at around 15:30, after which thick smoke began rising in the Zoloti Vorota area.
- Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko reported a fire in the Shevchenkivskyi district caused by a drone falling onto the roof of a non-residential building.
