Ukrainian foreign minister: Putin attacked Kyiv and killed people as soon as Trump's envoys left

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has said Russia launched a large-scale attack on the city of Kyiv immediately after US President Donald Trump's envoys left the Ukrainian capital, adding that Russian ballistic missiles speak louder than the Kremlin leader's words about diplomacy.

Details: Sybiha stressed that Russia's repeated strikes on residential buildings are nothing but senseless terror.

"The moment the US president's peace envoys left, Putin launched another massive, horrific attack against Kyiv, damaging residential areas and killing at least two people," he wrote.

Sybiha urged partners not to delay action in order to save Ukrainian lives.

"Every interceptor provided to Ukraine now is a saved life. Missiles in stocks, including those nearing their expiry date, should work to protect Ukrainian skies," he wrote.

Sybiha also called on European countries to follow Germany's example and close all  Russian houses  in Europe.

"Russian influence networks cannot be allowed to continue operating while Russia refuses to end its war of aggression. We urge our allies to act and increase pressure on the aggressor. Pressure on Moscow advances diplomacy – it does not obstruct it. Stronger pressure brings peace closer," Sybiha concluded.

Background:

• Russian forces attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles on the night of 7-8 September, damaging residential buildings and an educational facility and killing and injuring civilians.
• President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine had agreed to refrain from strikes on the Russian capital during Trump's envoys' visits to Kyiv and Moscow until the end of Monday 7 September, and expected Russia to do the same.
• Trump's envoys left Kyiv on the evening of Sunday 6 September.
