Defence Intelligence reveals 155 Russian companies producing components for Russian weapons

Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) has released data on 155 companies belonging to the Russian Ruselectronics holding company that manufacture components for Russian weapons, including ballistic missiles, aircraft, UAVs and electronic warfare systems. Some of these companies are not subject to any sanctions imposed by Ukraine's partner countries.

Details: DIU noted that the holding company brings together companies and research organisations specialising in the development and production of radio and electronic components and technologies, communications equipment and systems, automated control systems, robotic systems, microwave electronics, computing equipment and telecommunications equipment.

Ruselectronics products are used in almost all types of Russian weapons, including ballistic and cruise missiles, drones, electronic warfare systems, military equipment and radar and communications systems for tactical, operational and strategic aviation, among others.

The holding company includes, in particular, companies involved in the production of 9M723 ballistic missiles for the Iskander-M tactical missile system and 3M22 Zircon missiles:

• Girikond Research Institute JSC, a manufacturer of precision potentiometers for Zircon missiles
• NICEVT JSC, which supplies flight data processing units for Iskander missiles
• NPP Integral-V JSC, a manufacturer of pulse and heating transformers used in Iskander missiles.

The latter company is currently not subject to sanctions imposed by any country in the sanctions coalition, as is the case with almost half of all the holding company's businesses identified by DIU.

"However, the inclusion of Girikond and NICEVT on the sanctions lists of most partner countries has had little impact on the overall production volumes of these missiles. This does not mean that sanctions are ineffective, but rather demonstrates the need to improve mechanisms for monitoring compliance with them and strengthen accountability for violations," DIU noted.

DIU also stressed that components, equipment, software and critical raw materials must not fall into the hands of intermediaries and buyers who cannot confirm that the end recipient is a company with no links to Russia's military-industrial complex.
