Ukrainian UAVs attack Yamal in Russia for first time after flying almost 3,000 km – Russian media

Ukrainian drones attacked an industrial facility in the town of Novy Urengoy, in Russia's Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, on 9 September.

Details: Meduza wrote that Ukrainian drones attacked Yamal Peninsula for the first time. A fire broke out at an industrial facility in Novy Urengoy.

Artyukhov said the fire was caused by "falling debris" from drones. No casualties or injuries were reported.

Artyom Zhoga, Putin's envoy to the Urals Federal District, said a Ukrainian drone attempted to attack a fuel and energy facility in Yamal. He did not specify which facility it was.

Social media reports suggest that the likely target of the attack was the Novy Urengoy Gas Condensate Treatment Plant.

The facility processes oil, gas and condensate mixtures and is part of the Gazprom group.

Novy Urengoy is located around 2,800 km from the Ukrainian border.
