Russians attack Ukraine's second-largest pharmaceutical warehouse twice

Russian forces have attacked one of Ukraine's largest pharmaceutical warehouses, Universal Logistic, for two days in a row.

Details: Universal Logistic is one of Ukraine's two largest pharmaceutical warehouses. The other, Biocon, was attacked by Russian forces on 3 September.

The Universal Logistic warehouse is located in the Boryspil district in Kyiv Oblast. It met the highest standards for pharmaceutical storage. According to the company's website, the total area of its warehouse facilities is 21,000 sq m.

The warehouse serves the country's largest pharmaceutical distributors, which then deliver medicines to pharmacies. Due to the attacks on the warehouse and constant air-raid warnings, suppliers have been unable to remove goods from the Universal Logistic facility.

Ukrainska Pravda has no information on any casualties resulting from the attack.

On the evening of 12 September, Kyiv Oblast Military Administration reported that Russian forces had damaged warehouse facilities in the Boryspil district.

Background:

• Some regions of Ukraine have seen increased demand for certain medicines, causing stocks in pharmacies to decline, and in some cases the available supplies may last for only two to three weeks.
• Meanwhile, on 10 September, Edem Adamanov, Head of the State Expert Centre of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, said that Russian attacks on pharmaceutical warehouses have not caused a shortage of medicines in Ukraine, and that pharmacy chains have supplies for one to two months.
