Russia facing difficulties with Chinese jet engines for drones – Ukrainian intelligence agency, photo

Vadym Skibitskyi, Deputy Head of Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU), has said that Russia is experiencing problems with jet engines for drones. He said it during the annual Yalta European Strategy (YES) meeting in Kyiv.

Details: Skibitskyi said this was why international sanctions remained essential. He noted that Russia was currently facing certain difficulties obtaining jet engines for drones, specifically engines from China, and said this was the result of actions taken by Ukraine and its partners.

Skibitskyi also said that China was aware of the potential consequences, risks and problems for its own industry associated with supplying Russia.

Skibitskyi separately noted that Ukrainian intelligence was aware of all Russian companies involved in production, including joint manufacturing with Chinese companies.

He stressed, however, that these facilities were located far from Ukraine's border, at distances of more than 2,000 km. Striking such targets was difficult and could only be done using long-range strike capabilities, including drones, he added.

Background:

• Skibitskyi previously said that Russia was entirely dependent on supplies of Chinese turbojet engines for its Geran-4 and Geran-5 attack drones. At the same time, Russia is attempting to establish domestic production of such engines.
