Ukraine's state finances nearing critical point, PM says

Ukraine's state finances are close to a critical situation, while delays in the necessary votes in the Verkhovna Rada (parliament) could cost Ukraine a significant portion of US$29.5 billion in international funding.

Details: The government will send all MPs and relevant parliamentary committees a schedule with deadlines for each vote on which the disbursement of funds depends.

Koretskyi said international funding is needed to balance the state budget, social spending and the needs of the defence forces.

The government has to implement 42 decisions on its side. The Cabinet of Ministers had previously planned to complete this work by 1 November, but now aims to do so by 15 October.

Background: In early September, the government introduced strict austerity measures for budget funds not allocated to defence needs.
